  2. Our Vision: • This program is designed to build communication, cooperation, collaboration, creative thinking, decision making, and leadership skills through hands-on activities.

Highlights of the Trip Team-building & environmental education programming by Blue Ridge Learning Centers: • · High Challenge Course (participants wear harnesses and use special devices called “lobster claws” to safely connect to the course) • · Group Low Challenge Course • · Express Yourself program • · Scavenger Hunt • · Nature Art • · Earth Education

Schedule • Thursday, April 11th: • 6:15 am Arrive at J.V.Washam • 7:00-7:30am Charter buses depart for Blowing Rock • 10:00am Arrival at Blowing Rock Conference Center • Morning Group Activity • 12:30pm Lunch provided at Conference Center Cafeteria • Afternoon Programs (rotations) • 5:15pm Dinner provided at Conference Center Cafeteria • Evening Program (Appalachian Heritage/Wildlife Ed.) • 8:00 – 9:00pm Campfire Program

  5. Schedule • Friday, April 12th: • 7:45 am Breakfast provided at Conference Center Cafeteria • Morning Programs (rotations) • 12:30pm Lunch provided at Conference Center Cafeteria • Afternoon Programs (rotations) • 3:45pm Depart for JV Washam on charter buses • 6:15pm Arrive at JV Washam for pickup.

  6. Items included in the cost: • Round trip motor coach transportation • Lodging for 1 night at the Blowing Rock Conference Center • Girls in Lodge with female chaperone in each room (2 double beds per room), Boys in dorm-style lodging with male chaperones 8 beds per unit). • Four meals (2 lunches, 1 dinner,1 breakfast) at the conference center • Professionally conducted team building, environmental education program with instructors from Blue Ridge Learning Centers

  7. Payment Schedule • Students: $200 • Jan.10th - $50 • Feb.12th - $75 • Mar.12th - $75 • Chaperones: $115 • Jan.10th - $50 • Feb.12th - $65

  8. Not included • Spending money for souvenirs (not needed) • Snacks for bus ride (usually donated by parents) • Drinks or snacks outside of meal package

  9. Forms to be completed • JV Washam & CMS permission slips (3) • Student Behavior Contract • Emergency Contact Info • Chaperone Parent Consent Form • Room Assignment Form • Student Medication Form

  10. General Information • Staff attending: • Scott Otolski (Assistant Principal), classroom teachers, support staff • Pack for the weather, limit to one small bag • Parents are welcome to attend & chaperone a small group of 4-6 students with payment & CMS Volunteer Security Clearance(chaperones will be limited on a first come basis, when deposit is paid, based on number of students attending)

  11. General Information • Portable music players are allowed on bus, but no electronic games. J V Washam will not be held responsible for lost or damaged devices. • Buses have DVD players, can bring rated-G movies • Cell phones off during trip, OK to call home in evening with chaperone permission.
