Mapping Project Spring 2015

This mapping project displays data sources such as books, maps, and shape files obtained from the Blackford County Historical Society and the Indiana Geological Information Council. The data includes information on gas and oil shafts and wells, water wells, glass factories, plastics manufacturing, paper mills, nitroglycerin production, lumber companies, metal manufacturers, adhesives, and coal companies. The maps indicate the confidence levels of the data gathered, with level one being the most reliable. Prevalence maps provide an accurate depiction of industry volume and approximate locations for many data points. Special thanks to Michael Ravesi and the Environmental Resources Center for their exceptional assistance, and to Indiana Campus Compact and the IPFW Sociology Department for their generous support.
