Steilacoom High New Beginnings: Fostering Connections & Acceptance for Every Student

Join Melissa Roth, Bailey Huffman, and Delano Andres from Steilacoom High School Sentinels in creating relationships with teachers, coaches, classmates, and peers. Our goal is to connect, befriend, familiarize, inform, and sell the program. We emphasize total acceptance and trust-building during the critical first two weeks for new students. The process includes meeting the counselor, connecting to an S2S team member, taking a tour, and having a "Lunch Buddy." Find your way on campus, in the community, understand the culture, and navigate academics by getting involved. Team training focuses on building trust, awareness, and implementing the program to address new student needs. Team meetings involve discussing concerns and planning. Special events like the New Student Orientation help parents and students connect through tours, ice-breakers, a scavenger hunt, and the SHS Survival Guide. Enjoy monthly Rewinds with food, fun, and facts, as well as Homecoming Pizza Feeds and Game Nights to make new friends and connections before and after games. Our passionate team at Steilacoom High is dedicated to helping every new student transition smoothly and feel comfortable in their new environment by nurturing strong relationships.
