  1. Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year! Mission Statement “Copper Creek students will think critically, respect diversity, and value collaboration.” Vision Providing all students with an academic foundation to become a productive citizen prepared to meet the challenges of an evolving world.

Parking Lot Safety Procedures Do… • PLEASE Use crosswalks with crossing guard • Enter parking lot at the west gate by the school sign… marquee • Exit only…out the east gate by the fields • Continue scooting down ---moving along to allow for others to drop off at the blue lane (minimize bottle neck traffic jam) • Drop off means you don’t get out of your car. Do this for 1-6 graders along the blue line after the 1st crosswalk (Kinder zone) • Be respectful of staff/carpool spaces • Thank you  Don’t… • Park/ get out of your car in the blue lane. You can park in a parking space. • Don’t Drop off “NON KINDERS” in Kinder zone • Leave your vehicle unattended in the blue drop off lane • Enter parking lot through the east gate • Drop students off along Hillcrest Blvd., 71st Ave., or no stopping zones • Thank you for helping us be safe 

Front Office Safety Procedures To assist the office staff with safety, please…. • Have I.D. ready each time you come in. • Volunteers sign in/out on ipad to record hours of service • Visitors sign in on Visitors Sign In/Out Book for lunch, etc. • School Stickers/Badges must be worn each day on campus • Wait to be buzzed through the door- No Koolaid man entrances • Phone messages taken prior to 3:00 planning ahead (earlier the better) • Student sign out MUST be COMPLETED prior to 3:00pm

  7. 1st Day Arrival Procedure All parents may escort their student(s) to the classroom when the school gates open at 8:15 am. At the 8:30 am bell, we ask you to kindly exit the classrooms. Thank you 

  8. Arrival Procedures 8:15 am—Gates open, students walk to the playground and line up at the designated grade level area. Before this time, there is NO SUPERVISION. Kindergarten-Parents will escort kinder students to the kinder gate using the crosswalk or drop off at kinder blue line. (Per District Policy, parents may not be on the playground or in the classrooms.) 8:20—Teachers escort students from the playground to the classroom. 8:30-Please avoid being tardy! Gates are locked starting at 8:30am. Students will be required to go to the office for a LATE PASS. **Teachers will be on duty providing supervision at 8:15**

  10. Dismissal Procedures • Student sign out must be completed prior to 3:00pm. • (Please Plan Ahead) 3:15-Students exit through the front of the building to courtyard for parent pick up. Bus riders will learn the procedures on the 1st day of school. Do you know your bus#? First grade will wait for parents inside the gate (Flagpole Courtyard). Kindergarten will be a handoff at the kinder gate just a few minutes before 3:15 pm. Bus riders will exit to the bus area with a duty teacher.

School Safety • The campus is equipped with cameras, buzz doors, and locked gates during school day. • Fire drills are practiced monthly and lockdowns are practiced quarterly. • Students may not be signed out during a lockdown, fire drill, or after 3:00. • Evacuation Location: Deer Valley High School. School personnel works closely with district and public safety officials during all emergencies. • Parents need to update each student’s emergency card and medical information annually. See Packet Due 8/14/19.

  12. District Policy • Parents working in classrooms or going on field trips must be volunteer trained. Eachyear all volunteers must update their paperwork in the front office. • Interested in Volunteering? • Training dates at Copper Creek are: 8/21, 10/17, and 4/6. If these dates do not work for you, You may call the District Office to find other schools that may offer this volunteer training. • Copper Creek follows the DVUSD Students’ Rights and Responsibility Handbook and our Copper Creek Parent Student Handbook (posted on webpage) • Siblings may not attend classroom parties or be present when parent is volunteering/attending. Siblings ARE welcome to attend awards assemblies, field day, and lunch when with their guardian. • Students’ personal electronic devices must be kept in backpacks at all times while on campus (i.e. CELL phones, SMART watches, tablets, GAMING, etc.).

  13. Sanford Harmony How do we create an inclusive, nurturing classroom community? Sanford Harmony is a social emotional teaching program that cultivates strong classroom relationships between all students.

  14. First Day Packets Please return all forms requiring information and signatures by Wednesday, August 14th. Please update all your info…even email address. Copper Creek is Green!

Classroom T-Shirts • Option 1: You get PTSA Student Membership ($20) AND Your Cox Class T-Shirt . • And….several other incentives/discounts • (Please see PTSA table in library tonight). • Option 2: Non-PTSA members: Order forms will be coming home for classroom t-shirts at a later date regarding costs.
