  3. Indulgences • The selling of indulgences was practiced by the Catholic church during the Middle Ages, by paying a fine a person absolved themself of past sins and/or released a person from purgatory after death.

  4. Protestants • Amember or follower of any of the Christian churches that are separate from the Roman Catholic Church.

  5. Annul • To declare something invalid.
