Exploring the Four Layers of Rainforests
Dive into the fascinating world of rainforests, which consist of four distinct layers: the forest floor, understory, canopy, and emergent layer. The forest floor is dark and humid, supporting unique wildlife like jaguars and scorpions. The understory is hot and damp, home to shrubs and younger trees, where creatures like tree frogs reside. Above, the canopy forms a vibrant green roof, teeming with life such as sloths and macaws. Finally, the emergent layer, where only a few trees reach the sky, houses magnificent species like the Harpy eagle.

Layers • There are four layers in the rainforest. -forest floor -understory -canopy -emergent
Forest floor • Very little sun reaches the forest floor • Humid • Fallen leaves and dead animals decay(rot) and give nutrients to the soil
The Understory • This layer is hot, damp, and still • A lot of shrubs and young trees
The Canopy • The trees in this layer can be as high as 100 feet!! • They layer looks like a green roof for the forest • This layer protects the floor from sun and rain
Emergent Layer • Only a few trees break through to this layer. • They can be as tall as skyscapers! • They have long thin trunks.
