Branches of Geography. There are two main branches of geography : physical /human. Physical Geography is the study of the world’s physical features (landforms, bodies of water, plants, soils, and climates). Human Geography is the study of the world’s people, communities, and landscapes.

  1. Branches of Geography There are two main branches of geography: physical/human. Physical Geography is the study of the world’s physical features (landforms, bodies of water, plants, soils, and climates). Human Geography is the study of the world’s people, communities, and landscapes.

  2. Other Fields of Geography • Cartography is the science of making maps (physical, political, and specialty purpose). • Hydrology is the study of water on Earth (rainfall patterns, river systems, causes of droughts/floods, etc.). • Meteorology is the study of weather and what causes it (cold/warm fronts, tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, rain storms, etc.).
