  2. POW-WOWS! • The Pow-wow dance is celebrated in spring. The government told the dancers to come and show there dances. The Pow-wow word means spiritual leader. The Pow-wow dance is danced in a football field or a gym. They wear really fancy dresses and suits, that are very colorful!!!

  3. The Manitou stone! • In 1585 Thomas Harroit made the first glossary for an Algonquian language. In some Algonquian traditions, they believed the term Gitchemanitou is used to refer the great spirit. The people in the plains thought there was a great spirit. The manitou stone is a meteor that is very sacred to alberta’s first nations. The manitou stone hit iron creek.

  4. Medicine wheels • The medicine wheel was made to heal people. It is put in a big circle shaped like a wheel. In native American culture, the medicine wheel represents harmony and connections. It is considered a symbol of peaceful communication among all living beings on earth. A number of stone medicine wheels are spread around the plains of Alberta and the United States.

  5. what FIRST NATIONS CELEBRATE • They celebrate the salmon run. A pow –wow is celebrated almost every week of spring. They celebrate national university day and they get calls each year from family and friends wanting time for a reminder about loved ones, new dancers and to recognize the leaders and to honour the elders and veterans.
