  5. College! • You should apply to about 6 colleges • There are 3 parts to the application process • The Application • Common Application • College Application 2. The transcript, recommendations, any other school forms completed through Naviance • SAT/ACT scores • sent from testing agency

  6. Application Common Application (not all colleges accept this) Generic application Completed electronically College/University own application Obtained through their website Can only be submitted to that school

  7. Types of Admissions: Early Decision: This is a binding agreement. You must attend that University and withdraw your applications to other schools. Early Action: Allows you to apply early, but it is not binding. You can then compare the colleges that accept you and their financial aid offers. Rolling Admissions: Admission is granted on a first come first serve basis; though there may not be a deadline once the “seats” are filled, these schools will not accept more students. So get your application in as soon as possible. Deadline: This is a specific date on these applications. You are responsible for knowing when your applications are due.

  8. Transcript Request 1st submit application 2nd update Naviance with colleges and request transcript 3rd complete orange transcript request form in the Counseling Center. $5.00 processing fee. **Note: nothing will be send until form is completed

  9. Standardized Test Scores SAT/ ACT Request that your scores are sent to the college through the testing agency www.sat.org www.act.org

  10. Financial Aid/ Scholarships • Financial aid- Seniors you will complete the FAFSA form in January. Complete on-line. February 11, 2014, FAFSA completion COHS from 6-7 in Library. • Community Scholarships- are listed as they come in on Naviance, under “college tab”, under scholarships
