  1. Barking Park Assessment:How can we improve Barking Park so that it can be awarded Green Flag Status? By Freya and Samiya

  2. What is Barking Park like now? Barking park is a bit empty at the moment. A few areas of the park needs re-doing like: The old swimming pool (it is not there anymore) and the skateboard area. Not that many people are interested in the park because there is not much entertainment.

  3. Good Points? • There are fresh flowers around the park. • Big fun play areas for all types of kids (and some adults) • In the summer you get canoeing and boat rides around the lake • Feed ducks and geese bread • Pedestrian paths • area for kids Who can skateboard • Court areas for tennis and basketball • Lovely wildlife (squirrels, birds, and dogs)

  4. Bad Points? • The skateboard area is only for people that can skateboard. (the ramps are really for people who can skateboard) • No toilets in the park • Graffiti on the skateboard area and walls • Broken swimming pool which is dangerous for little kids • Abandoned buildings • The lake is full of litter • No railings for side of the lake for little kids • Not many benches around the park

  5. What we would plan in Barking Park for the future. We would plan to make the lake a bit cleaner, we would improve the skateboard area, the graffiti around that park we will clean it up with paint. We will put CCTV to the most common places around the park, we will redo the old swimming pool and make it more fun for the summer. We will put small see through railings around the lake to make it safer for everyone (mostly toddlers) and some toilets and safe drinking water (fountains) around the park. Also there will be a stage for fun activities for entertainment.

  6. 1st Proposal WHAT: Our first proposal is to put some water events for children WHERE: We will do it where the old swimming pool is. WHY: This will make it more fun for little kids to play on while it is hot out WHO: This will appeal to anyone who wants a little dip or a swim HOW: This will help Barking Park fulfil the Green Flag Criteria for some more entertainment and fun for everyone

  7. 2nd Proposal: WHAT: Our second proposal is to put a little stage for shows WHERE: We will do it in the putting green WHY: This will make people more into coming to barking park WHO: This will appeal to smaller kids as there will kid shows HOW: This will help Barking Park fulfil the Green Flag Criteria because it will be amusing and entertaining

  8. 3rd Proposal: WHAT: Our third proposal is to put a small railing for safety WHERE: We will do it at the side of the lake WHY: This will be safer for anyone and everyone WHO: This will appeal to everyone HOW: This will help Barking Park fulfil the Green Flag Criteria it is much safer so people don’t fall in

  9. Conclusion Overall how will these proposals help Barking Park to gain Green Flag status. The swimming pool will help because it will be relaxing on a hot day and entertaining. The stage will help because it will be more entertaining for little kids. The railing will help because it will be safe so people don’t fall in especially little kids.
