  39. Working with ATP Outputs • Background • ATP Outputs – ICS Reports • ICS Excel File • Overview • Detailed Editing Instructions • CMPG Excel File Overview • ICS Word Report Overview • Processing Log File NetApp Confidential - Internal Use Only

  40. Background • The data presented by ATP is designed to be used by a PS Consultant in the context of delivering the Infrastructure Consulting Service • The successful consumer of this information has, at a minimum, a good understanding of NetApp Core Technologies and Best Practices • Refer to the Infrastructure Consulting Service TechNet Page for training on how to edit these outputs for the NetApp ICS service • This section covers the edits necessary to use the data outside of the ICS context NetApp Confidential - Internal Use Only

  41. ATP Outputs – ICS Reports • ATP outputs the following four files NetApp Confidential - Internal Use Only

  42. ICS Excel File Content Overview NetApp Confidential - Internal Use Only

  43. Dashboard Tab • Replace the “green lights” in row 2 with the color reflecting your analysis of the infrastructure • The legend shows recommendations for color coding • You may also delete this tab from the workbook These “Green Lights” are not the result of analysis. They are samples only. NetApp Confidential - Internal Use Only

  44. Infrastructure Summary Tab • Charts on this tab are automatically completed as you complete other sections of the workbook • Charts that are completed this way include: • Storage Controller Performance by Category • Overall Business Risk in Percentage • Controllers capable of upgrading to OnTap 8.0 • You can improve the appearance of the Breakdown by Disk, Shelf and Module Size and Type charts by hiding columns with 0 values in them on the Business Analytics tab NetApp Confidential - Internal Use Only

  45. Storage Controller Summary Tab • Two columns on this tab populate other portions of the workbook • Column J – Core ApplicationRecord the main application hosted on this system • Column K – LocationRecord the location of the system • Hide any other columns you do not want to review • Other Edits • Column E – Enter Y if the system can run OnTap 8.0, N if it cannot • Column F – Complete with support contract information or hide column if not available or not being reviewed • Column G – Original Ship Dates of 1/1/1900 should be replaced with N/A • Column L – Complete with Data Center location if desired, hide column if not available or not being reviewed • Column AJ – Provide your evaluation of the overall business risk of the system by entering the words “Red”, “Yellow” or “Green” NetApp Confidential - Internal Use Only

  46. Performance Tab • If you do not understand the data shown in this tab • Hide this tab • Remove the Performance Controller Category chart from the Infrastructure Summary tab • Column D and E are automatically populated from the Storage Controller Summary tab • If you do understand this data • Review the data shown here and delve into the CMPG excel files for the systems you are reviewing as required to determine your overall performance utilization rating • Record utilization as “Low”, “Medium” or “High” in Column P • These “ratings” are relative depending on your judgment and knowledge of how the system is used NetApp Confidential - Internal Use Only

  47. Business Analytics Tab • The charts displayed on the Infrastructure Summary Tab come from this tab • To improve the appearance of the Hardware by Type Charts • Select all cells on the Business Analytics Tab • Change the font color to “automatic” • Review columns F through AV and hide any columns with 0 counts for disk, shelf or modules by type • Hide this tab when you are done editing the workbook NetApp Confidential - Internal Use Only

  48. Automatic Population of Data • The following tabs automatically populate Core Application and Location from the data you enter on the Storage Controller Summary Tab • Performance • Capacity • Physical Storage • End of Support Components • Licenses • Firmware Revisions NetApp Confidential - Internal Use Only

  49. ICS CMPG File Contents Overview • All CMPG outputs produced by the tool trend data for the time period selected via the ATP UI (typically 26 weeks) • These files provide visualization, not analysis, of performance and utilization counters • The majority of this information is useful to performance consultants only • The storage trend data can be used by most consultants to review past and predict future storage utilization • Gaps in data are most often caused by missing performance counter files NetApp Confidential - Internal Use Only
