  1. Prompt Calibration Loop 11 February 2011

  2. Overview • Prompt calibration loop in SCT • Provides ATLAS with conditions data used for the bulk reconstruction at Tier0 (& reprocessing) • Noisy strip map (only as of today) • Provides SCT with key variables to monitor the performance • Noisy strip/chip, dead strip/chip, noise occupancy, efficiency, bytestream errors etc. • Offline jobs to create the outputs run automatically on TMS (Task Management System). • DQ shifter monitors the job status. • All outputs are manually uploaded to COOL database • DQ shifter uploads the outputs to COOL.

  3. Bulk Reconstruction at Tier0 • “Bulk reconstruction” at Tier0 • Tier0 runs reconstruction on RAW data for each run. • The outputs are distributed to Tier1s for physics analysis. • Run-calibration-reconstruction cycle • A run finishes. • A fixed 36 hours is given to subsystems, as offline calibration period. • Reconstruction starts. run 1 calibration 1 (36 hours) reconstruction 1 run 2 Prompt calibration loop has to be completed within 36 hours calibration 2 (36 hours) reconstruction 2 run 3 time

  4. Prompt Calibration Loop • For a given run, prompt calibration loop has to be completed within 36 hours. • 3 steps • Processing : Offline calibration jobs run automatically. • Outputs : Appear on a dedicated Web page. • Uploads : Uploads to COOL database on the Web page.

  5. Processing • For a given run, 7 types of jobs are defined.

  6. Shifter’s Work • Go to SCT-dedicated upload Web page (See page 7). https://pc-sct-www01.cern.ch/24hLoop/index.php • Log in. • Check a list of runs in recent 2 days on ATLAS RunQuery, which are in prompt calibration loop period (36 hour time-window for each run). • Upload the outputs if available. • Contact experts for any questions/problems. • Go to Task Lister Web page (See page 8). https://atlas-tz-monitoring-caf.cern.ch/taskLister.html • Monitor jobs for a list of runs are defined/running/done. • Contact experts for any questions/problems.

  7. Upload Page Send message to experts https://pc-sct-www01.cern.ch/24hLoop/index.php Check cron job Link to documentation etc Log in Last run uploaded for noisy strip Tabs to select types (NoisyStrip is selected in this page) Select tag (default is selected) Upload test flag (NoisyStrip only), checkbox, log Click for uploads Link to ATLAS RunQuery

  8. Job Monitoring on Task Lister https://atlas-tz-monitoring-caf.cern.ch/taskLister.html Tasks defined NOTE : don’t care “#Events=0” Tasks running Type sctns : NoisyStrip, 2 jobs (tag c0, c00) sctdc : DeadChip, 1 job sctds : DeadStrip, 1 job sctno : NoiseOccupany, 2 job (tag c0, c00) sctro : RawOccupancy, 1 job scteff : Efficiency, 1 job sctbse : BSErrors, 1 job Tasks done Select “sctcalib”
