  2. Summary • The story, On the Road, starts off with a girl, Rhiannon, 16, who wants to go to her friend, Sonia’s party because a boy called Simon might be there. However her mother, Maryanne, is reluctant to let her go to the party because when her mother was 16 she got pregnant at a party. She doesn’t want her making the same mistakes as she did at that age. Still angry with her mum, she sneaks out of her room and makes her way over to Sonia’s party. The story then changes to the mothers view ( the writing is in italics). • When the writing turns off italics it is back in the daughters view. She is walking to the party, now wishing her mother drove her there. Finally when she gets to the party she finds that Simon is with Sonia. Now she wishes she never came to the party. Once she has a drink the party is over and she is walking back. Later she is lucky to sneak back before her mother sees her.
