The Progressive (and Dangerous) Manifestations of Apathy • Lose zeal for God & His work • Get lazy – Matthew 25:3, 18, 24-26 • Make excuses – Luke 14:16-20 • Delay or put off obedience – Acts 24:25; Luke 9:61 • Lose interest in spiritual matters • Become dull of hearing – Hebrews 5:11 • Make light of it – Matthew 22:2-5 • Neglect (unconcerned, indifferent) – Hebrews 2:3 • Grow cold – Matthew 24:12 • Have more room for secular/worldly interests • Do own thing – Luke 9:57-62; Judges 21:25 • Growing affinity for world/can’t be bothered – 2 Timothy 4:10 • Enter compromising situations – 2 Samuel 11:2; John 18:18 • Yield to lusts, desires & peer pressure – James 1:14-15 • Entangle self with the world • Heart hardened toward God – Luke 8:14; Matthew 13:15

How to Beat Apathy • Take the focus off of you and put it back on God! • Luke 9:23; James 4:7-10; Matthew 6:33 • Remember what Jesus did for you! • 2 Corinthians 5:14-21; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 • Remember you are a pilgrim on this earth! • 1 Peter 2:11; Philippians 3:20-21 • Go back, remember and do your “first works”! • Revelation 2:5; 3:1-5; 1 Corinthians 15:58b • Love the Bible, love studying it and love applying your faith! • Psalm 119:47, 48, 97, 113, 119, 127, 159, 163, 165, 167; Ro. 10:17 • Spend quality time with zealous people of God! • Acts 2:46; Psalm 119:63; Romans 1:12 • Teach someone the gospel! • Acts 4:18-20; 8:4; Luke 15:4-7

Make a Full & Lifelong Commitment to Christ Today • Believe Jesus is God’s Son – John 3:16 • Repent of your sins – Acts 17:30 • Confess your faith in Jesus – Matthew 10:32 • Be immersed in water – Galatians 3:27 • Sins are forgiven – Acts 2:38 • Added to His church – Acts 2:47 • Registered in heaven – Hebrews 12:23 • Live faithfully, avoiding apathy – 1 Cor. 15:58
