State of the College 2011-2012 • Student Credit Hours (4th Largest ) 14,500 up 1.4% • Annual Budget $6,859,000 + 99,500 in working money • Employees: 64 faculty and staff 24 jointly appointed faculty 21 adjunct faculty • New hires this year: three T/TT faculty, two visitors , one affiliate, part time Garden Manager, Assistant Director of the Writing Center, part time project manager

  3. New Programs in the Pipeline • Religious Studies (final approval this fall) • LGBTQ studies (approved for Final Plan) • Global Studies ( developing proposal) • Sustainable Agriculture (hoop house going up today) • Sustainable Certificate Summer Institute (in planning stages for summer 2012.)

  4. Dean’s Goals based on Faculty Staff Evaluations: • Develop a Communication Plan for the College that addresses the needs of both internal and external audiences. • Provide a balanced plan for access to the dean that accommodates the needs of faculty, staff and department heads and the needs of the dean.

  5. Communication Plan • LOH Down: every two weeks • Brooks College News Letter : alternate two weeks • College Event Calendar (open access) • Presence on Facebook and Twitter • Enhanced website • Creative Space Button (ideas, suggestions and feedback) on Website • Annual Report September 2011 and on going • Early dissemination of agenda’s and minutes

  6. Accessability • Attend unit meetings once or twice a semester • Open office hours • Oovoo or Wimba Chats • Attendance at events

  7. Strategic Goals for the College • Develop the plan for the next phase of the development of the college by defining its academic mission and expanding its service role in collaborating with and providing support for the work of the other colleges.

  8. Goals Improve communication and collaboration with CLAS. Possible areas for work are: new curriculum development, fluidity of faculty movement between the two colleges, new interdisciplinary innovation projects, internationalization of the curriculum, shared high-impact educational practices, applied sustainability practices, and shared community engagement projects.

  9. Goals • Continue progress toward meeting the Brooks College Strategic Plan Goals for 2011-2012 and the Academic Affairs Goals as they apply to the college with special focus on implementing new innovative curriculum, general education reform, data-basing green jobs, and promoting new interdisciplinary initiatives.
