  1. March 7, 2011 McKenzie Thompson Mrs. Baugh Scotty Weber Mrs. Denison Preston Trundy Mrs. Beasley Curtis McElroy Mrs. Eisenback/ Ms. Cooksey BROOKS BRONCOS Broncos of the Month Dear Parents, For this week of learning, we have many new and interesting things planned. Read below to find out what your child needs to have learned by the end of the week to be on target. Thank you to all of the families who came out and joined us for the Lucky Math Night. We had a blast and hope you did too! If you would like to order pictures, the order form and money is due by this Friday, March 11. To support Relay for Life this week, students will guess the number of items in a jar for .25ȼ. By the end of the week in reading your child should be able to use text features (i.e. maps, pictures, table of contents) to help them understand non-fiction. Also they should be able to spell words with the following suffixes fuland y. In math, your child is on target if they can describe fractions and use them to name parts of collections. Also they should be able to collect and record data. In Science, they should be able to describe simple machines (i.e. wedge, screw, lever) and how they are used. **Weekly Tip: Reading:Quick! Quick! Use new words your child has learned in lively flash card or computer drills. Sometimes these help kids automatically recognize and read words, especially those that are used frequently http://www.readingrockets.org/article/7836 Have a great week, Mrs. Baugh, Ms. Beasley, Ms. Cooksey, Mrs. Denison, and Mrs. Eisenback Dates to Remember: 3/7-3/11 Relay for Life Event 3/11 Picture Orders Due & Dress Down for $1.00 3/16 Early Release (Dismissed at 1:45) 3/16 Market Day Orders Due
