  • The clothing of the wealthy citizens tended to be elaborate, and was influenced by the kings and queens of their time.
  • Clothing was usually made of wool, with undergarments that were made of linen.
  • Clothing of better materials and brighter colors indicated the status of a citizen.

Knights-

  • The under clothes of a knight consisted of linen under-shirt and linen under-pants.
  • A padded garment known as am Aketon, Arming Coat or Doublet consisted of a quilted coat, sewn or staffed with linen or even grass.
  • The last layer of clothing was a Surcoat, tied with a belt around the waist.
