  3. Formatting Characters UPPERCASE LETTERS – press Caps Lock key Bold – Ctrl + B …or Underline – Ctrl + U …or more than one type canbe applied Italics – Ctrl + I …or remove character formatting by selectingtext and pressing Ctrl + spacebar

Choosing a Typeface Set of characters with common design and shape - FONT • Monospaced • Allots same amount of horizontal space for each character • Rarely used in professional publications • Proportional • Allows a varying amount of horizontal space for each character • Different typefaces take up different amounts of space

  6. Serif Small stroke at the edge of a character Moves the reader’s eye across the page Good for text-intensive documents Sans Serif No stroke sans = French for "without" Good for headlines and advertisements Proportional Font Categories
