Insert Custom Numbers and Bullets • You can insert numbers as you type text, or you can select text and then apply numbering. • If you type 1., press the spacebar, type a paragraph of text, and then press the Enter key, Word indents 1. approximately a quarter-inch from the left margin. • Word then hang indents the text in the paragraph approximately a half-inch from the left margin. • At the beginning of the next paragraph, Word inserts 2. a quarter-inch from the left margin. • As you continue typing items, Word will keep inserting the next number in the list.

Print Sections • You can print specific pages in a document by inserting page numbers in the Pages text box at the Print tab Backstage view. • If a document contains sections, use the Pages text box at the Print tab Backstage view to specify the section and pages within the section that you want to print. • For example, if a document is divided into three sections and you want to print only section two, you would type s2 in the Pages text box. If a document contains six sections and you want to print sections three through five, you would type s3-s5 in the Pages text box.

  30. Keep Text Together • In a multiple-page document, the soft page breaks inserted by Word may occur in undesirable locations. • A soft page break may also create a widow or orphan.
