  4. What to Include in Your Presentation The #1 consideration is your AUDIENCE

  5. Who’s Your Audience? • Is Your Audience Made up of: • Elected officials • Economic developers/planners • Career counselors • Job seekers • Educators • Students • Media

  6. Who’s Your Audience? • Other Important Considerations: • What’s the focus of the event you are presenting at? • Will it be just you presenting, or others too? • What’s the level of knowledge of your audience?

  7. What to Include in Your Presentation • You must ALSO consider: • Time - how much do you have? • Resources - internet, personal contacts, software skills, etc. • Not all statistical data is easily aggregated

  8. A “Labor Market” Presentation Who are some of your audiences for a “Labor Market” presentation? What type of information/data might you want to include?

Some Common Data Elements • Population: How many PEOPLE? • Demographics: What KIND of people? • Education, age, race, income, poverty, etc. • Labor Force: How many people are WORKERS? • Jobs: How many JOBS and what KIND of jobs? • Wages: What do jobs in the area PAY. • Outlook: What are the past TRENDS? Can we speculate about the Future?
