III. RESEARCH YOUR TOPIC AND AUDIENCE • Library research • Internet research • Personal experience • Interviews of experts Create a citation page of all citations used. You will turn this in with an outline, you must credit sources in the speech itself.
IV. CONSTRUCT YOUR OUTLINE • Introduction: gains the attention of the audience and previews the main points • Body: Presents main points in a coherent sequence and amplifies those main points 1. Organizational styles: chronological. spatial, topical, cause-effect, problem-solution 2. Forms of support: definitions, examples, narratives, testimony, statistics, visual aides • Conclusion: summarizes the main points and provides a positive finish for the speech
