Density – 309 per Sq.km • Average Rainfall – 1,815 mm • (ranges between 900 and 5,000+) • Average Temperature (lowlands)–27.5C

  4. 1. India Meteorological Department (IMD) at New Delhi 2. Japan Meteorological Administration (JMA) at Tokyo DoM of Sri Lanka use the Meteorological products of the following Regional Specialized Meteorological Centers

  5. 1. NWP products 2. satellite imagers and products 3. Outgoing Long wave Radiation 4. Monsoon on set Use following products from IMD RSMC

  6. 1. NWP products 2. High Resolution Global Spectral Model (TL 959) Use following products from JMA RSMC

  7. 1. Forecast Severe Weather conditions 2. Improve lead-time of warnings 3.Improve interaction of NMC with uses Objectives of WMO’s Severe Weather Forecasting Demonstration Project

  8. Products used from ECMWF • 1. EFI (Extreme Forecast Index) • 2. EPS (Ensemble Prediction System)

  9. What we expect more from These Centers • 1.Colaborative research works and share the research out puts. • 2.Help for the capacity building. • 3.Help to run WRF at our own Department.
