  2. Doctors link the condition known as polycystic ovary syndrome to an imbalance in female sex hormones. The imbalance may have an impact on a woman's fertility and cause a number of signs. Follicles, which are microscopic fluid-filled cysts, form on the top of the ovary in women of childbearing age every month.
