  10. Booklet • Panel 3 (top): Impulse-Momentum Theorem • Write small, try to copy my spacing

  11. Break • 5 Minutes

  12. Practice on Momentum & Impulse • Write work and answer in your notebook. • You can refer to page 1 of the booklet for momentum • You can refer to page 3 of the booklet for impulse

  13. Practice on Momentum • What is the equation for momentum?

  14. Practice on Momentum • A baseball has a mass of 0.2 kg and is thrown at a velocity of 17 m/s. What is its momentum? Show calculations.

  15. Practice on Momentum • Discuss with a neighbor: • If someone says that an object’s momentum is to the left, which way is its velocity? • Its mass? • Make sure to record the answer in your notebook!

  16. Practice on Momentum • Discuss with a neighbor: Which of the following has more momentum? Justify your answer! • A heavy truck at rest • A moving skateboard • Make sure to record the answer in your notebook!

  17. Practice on Momentum • You throw a chicken at your best friend b/c you think this is the best way to express your love. You know that the chicken has a momentum of 15 (kg*m)/s and has a mass of 3 kg. What is the chicken’s velocity? Show your work.

  18. Practice on Impulse • Discuss with a neighbor: 2 identical cars are driving the same speed. The first car stops in 2 seconds, the other stops in 4 seconds. Which one will experience more force and why? (Doesn’t require a calculation) • Make sure to record the answer in your notebook!

  19. Practice on Impulse • Discuss with a neighbor: Why is a good idea to have your hand stretched forward when you are getting ready to catch a baseball? • Make sure to record the answer in your notebook!
