The Starting Point for TeraGrid Users • Enhanced user access • Access RP resources and special multi-site services • Information sharing & RP integration • Current, up-to-date information about TG environment • Accounting and monitoring • Manage and monitor progress via common tools • User information and presentation • First line of support for users

Enhanced User Access • TeraGrid provides an environment that spans RP sites to simplify access to resources. • TeraGrid User Portal (TGUP) is primary common access point for TeraGrid users. • https://portal.teragrid.org/ • Includes single-sign-on (SSO) capabilities to all TG resources. • Login to TGUP, one-click GSI-SSH to TG systems

Enhanced User Access (2) • Portal-to-POPS authentication • Reduces need to remember POPS login (Oct 08) • User management, allocation monitoring • ‘Checkbox’ move/remove users for PIs (Mar 09) • Batch queue prediction service (UCSB) • For 12 HPC systems, including Ranger • Cross-site file manager • Leverages SSO, GridFTP (Sept 08) • Can connect to Amazon S3 • Remote Vis on Spur • formerly Maverick (Oct 08)

Information Sharing & RP Integration • A suite of tools with centralized information about a dynamic resource environment • Catalogs of resource information • Resource catalog • CTSS catalog • 3rd party software catalogs • TeraGrid-wide News Service • RSS feeds, maintenance/event calendar new in 2008 • Re-designed in 2008 to permit Inca to adjust results during system outages

Accounting and Monitoring • TeraGrid Central Database (TGCDB) • Cornerstone of TG accounting and account management • Key for many UFP/CS functions • Failover system being deployed in Q2 09 • RPs communicate with TGCDB via AMIE • 2.3M packets in 2008 • New AMIE code base with 10x performance increase • Source of info for TGUP, tgusage, IIS, monitoring tools IIS TGUP +UFP TGCDB Staff monitoring tools POPS AMIE AMIE AMIE RP1 RPn …
