  2. Tutorial Center • ~1000 students/quarter • Individual and group tutoring in L47 & E36 (math/sci) • Tutors well-trained: journals, videotaping, Sr. Tutors • Volunteers saved us $16K for F03!

  3. Self-Paced Skills Classes • Reading, Writing, Grammar, Vocabulary, Spelling, Study Skills • ~200 students/qtr • Self-paced, 1/2 unit classes--flexible, individualized • Workshops (schedule online) • Future plans: online options • Instructor Referral Form (online)

  4. Adjunct Skills Classes • ~400 students/quarter • 1/2 unit group tutoring, plus study skills labs • Linked to large lecture classes (ie Econ, Hist, Bio)

  5. Online Writing Assistance Center (OWAC) • Help for upper-level EWRT students & online & evening sections • NOT an editing service. “Help the student, not the paper.” • Uses ETUDES • 48 hour turnaround. Students must plan ahead!

  6. Why online tutoring? • Students want it (Smarthinking, other schools) • Tutors well-trained (see “For Online Tutors” page) • Access for those who can’t come to campus

  7. How can instructors get their students on the OWAC? • Send e-mail • Hand out flyers • Encourage and follow up on usage
