  1. E-MENTORING Introduction • Role: Program Manager • Configures the settings for the program • Invites/manages potential mentors • Manages agreements between mentor and mentee. The UNC Online Mentoring system provides the means for users to connect with program approved mentors. This presentation will demonstrate the workflow for each of the different roles involved in making the mentoring process successful. Browse to https://devservices.northcarolina.edu/QA An click on the e-Mentoring Tab. Follow this guide to learn the functionality and responsibilities associated with each role. • Role: Mentor • Invited and/or signs up for service. • Completes agreement with mentee. • Role: Mentee • Finds a mentor for their program • Completes agreement with mentor.

  2. Role: Mentor – Logging In Mentor Mentors will could be external users (not affiliated with a campus). If that is the case then you would need to choose the External User Tab. If this is your first visit to the system you will need to create an account.

  3. Role: Mentor • I have a lot to offer so I’m going to become a mentor! • I can become a mentor by: • Invitation from a manager • Requesting an invitation • Registering to mentor an open initiative. I’ll start by choosing an initiative that matches my interest.

  4. Role: Mentor – Become a Mentor Some initiatives are closed so I’ll need to contact the Initiative Manager first. If I’ve been invited or this initiative is open I will just Login (if I haven’t already). If the initiative is closed I’ll send a quick message and await an invitation email.

  5. Role: Mentor > Creating an Account I need to login to continue… but I don’t have an account yet. Creating one is easy! First I enter my email address and click continue. I’ll receive an email with an activation code which I’ll enter here. After clicking continue I will create a password and enter some basic information.

  6. Role: Mentor – Become a Mentor After making sure I have read and can uphold the guidelines and agreements I can sign up by entering my information into the form. If I hover over the Help Icon I can find out more about individual fields. The information I provide will help match me with a mentee. My personal details will remain private until a mentoring agreement has been made.

  7. Role: Mentor – My Services Now that I’m signed up I will go to “My Services” where I can see all the initiatives and programs I’m registered for. Within each initiative I have two tabs – Registration and Mentees. The Registration tab displays my status (I can edit my registration info here), the initiative contact and any documents associated with the initiative.

  8. Role: Mentor – My Services Under the “Mentees” tab is a list of all of the mentees I’m mentoring along with their details. When a mentee chooses me I review the agreement and accept, deny or modify the terms and send it back.

  9. Role: Mentor – My Services When the term of my mentoring relationship is over I will take the survey rating my experience!
