  3. Mentoring is a one-on-one relationship that can be established between employees so that one employee can guide and help the other employee develop in the workplace. Mentoring can happen formally through a program or just through day-to-day interaction. Mentoring in the Workplace 3

  4. Mentors are usually out of the direct supervision chain from the protégé. Mentoring is a long term commitment to work together, can be up to a year. Mentors take time and build trust. Goals of the mentorship are clear so that expectations can be met. Communication on a regular basis is vital. Characteristics of Workplace Mentoring 4
