Creighton Fund for Clerkships in the Public Interest

The Creighton Fund for Clerkships in the Public Interest provides funding for law students working in unpaid public service legal jobs during the summer. CFCPI - Overview • Provides summer funding for law students working in unpaid public service legaljobs • Qualifying employers include government agencies and nonprofit organizations • Funding available for full-time work (up to 40 hours/week) or part-time work(up to 20 hours/week). Note: part-time students only qualify for part-time funding • Funding available for 11 weeks* from May 28-August 9 * Subject to change by the CFCPI Committee depending on 2019 funding.

  3. CFCPI - Requirements • Must be supervised by a licensed attorney • Must have GPA of 2.0 – otherwise grades not a factor • Funding is not available in ND, WA, OH and WY • Must be US Citizen • Must be a dues-paying member of PILF • Cannot take summer classes AND borrow federal loans • Must complete FAFSA for both 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 • No lobbying activities

Selection Criteria Funding is NOT guaranteed, factors considered: • Personal statement reflecting commitment to public service and value of the position to the public – spend time on this! • Nature of the legal work being performed/location of work • For 2Ls, may consider whether past funding was received

  5. Application Procedures • Applications are due by NOON on Monday, March 18th in the CDO • Application • Part One: Identification Form; Letter from Employer • Part Two: Agreement • Part Three: Resume, Job Description and Personal Statement Note: Part Three of the application is anonymous! Use last 4 digits of social security number.

  6.
