Crash Imminent Braking • Project Objectives • Develop and validate performance requirements and objective tests for imminent crash automatic braking systems • Establish preliminary safety estimates • Project Deliverables • Performance specifications for CIB systems • Test procedures for evaluating systems • Methodology for estimating benefits • Key Project Aspects • OEM & supplier participation • Multiple USDOT agencies and offices • Interdependent collaboration throughout project

Timeline Project Timeline: Start Sept, 2007 w/ 35 month duration Project Management: Throughout Project Scoping & Technology Selection: 1 year Test Vehicle Builds & Test Plans: 8 months Conduct Tests: 6 months Final Test & Benefits Methods: 10 months Expected Finish Date: August, 2010 CAMP - Crash Imminent Braking Consortium

  7. Current Status • Baseline vehicle testing complete • Prototype vehicle developed • Initial prototype testing conducted • Evaluation ongoing • Completed real world operational assessment • Ongoing analysis • Final test development underway • Benefits analysis progressing
