  1. HIGH SCHOOL POPULARITY: A SOCIOLOGICAL ISSUE

  2. Stereotypes Girls Boys Cocky Have issues with the ‘boys will be boys’ thing. • Gossipy • Bitchy • Jealous • Two-faced • Twice as likely to cause dramas

  3. Wanna be on top? Don’t bother if you’re not. • You’ll have to fit in with their social codes- you can’t be yourself, and you can even be ‘lost’ in life. • Sometimes people try so hard to be popular that they just seem fake, and while they think they’re popular, they’re actually not. • Even if you are in the popular group, that doesn’t mean that your friends are really ‘friends’ with you.

  4. Psychology explains: the reality behind behaviors • It’s all about peer pressure- nobody wants to be an outcast living in a society. • They lack self-esteem and need to rely on their ‘status’ to cover their insecurities for social and emotional support. • Boys vs. other boys and girls vs. other girls- sexual competition only goes with the best boys selecting the best girls.
