  2. Introduction and education • 29 years with PPS. • All at high school level • 21years at Grant. • MST in math. • I have taught all subjects leading up to this course.

  4. Math Help • Tutorial period: every Thursday 2:35-3:15 in my room. • Other times by prior arrangement.

  5. Supply list: • In addition to standard supplies, each student in my class needs the following daily in class: • Graphing calculator (with working batteries!) I demonstrate the material by using a TI 84. • Post It notes • Highlighter

  6. Topics we will cover this year First semester: Probability Various graphing methods Measure of Central Tendencies Various probability rules Discrete Probability Distributions Second semester: Statistics Normal Distribution Confidence Interval Hypothesis Testing Regression Modeling Various statistical testing methods.

  7. PSU • PSU reg and payment were due Sept 19th. The deadline for second semester is early February. • There is a one time financial aid available. • Your student will receive a PSU ID that looks like a credit card. The PSU ID entitles your student to privileges offered to any part time PSU student (i.e. library, recreational facilities, etc.)

  8. Student’s Responsibilities • Be ready to learn. • Be patient with difficult topics. • Contribute, think, listen and be actively involved.

  9. How can you help? • Provide supplies to your student. • Internet. • Have ongoing conversations with your student about the class.
