  3. gee dang… • Have you ever received a grade that you think you didn’t deserve??? • Take a couple minutes and discuss it amongst your group members.

  4. What is Standards based Grading? • Standards based grading is a new view on grading • Also called progressive education • Focuses more on critical thinking and creativity

  5. Why Switch? • This is more applicable to life • Boosts creativity • Improves critical thinking skills • Encourages inquiry based thinking

  6. How are we graded? • High Pass • Low Pass • Fail

  7. Who is doing this? • Harvard University • Van Andel Institute • QPOE2 • Modified Scientific Method

  8.  Review  • What does progressive thinking improve upon? • Why use a high pass, low pass, fail system?

  9. Activity Time!! • Look at each of the essays that I hand out • Put them in order of High pass, Low pass, Fail • Explain your reasoning for the grades each one received.

  10. What happened? • What grade did you give intro #1? • What grade did you give intro #2? • What grade did you give intro #3? • What made ____ the best?
