  3. This Session’s Goals: • PWBAT determine why SBG is important • PWBAT navigate the new SchoolMaster • PWBAT use data to determine individual student achievement • PWBAT create a plan for individualized instruction

  5. Do Now! • What does Standards Based Grading look like? • Why is it valuable for students? Teachers? Parents?

  7. New Grading Scales • Academic Evaluations • M = Meets • P = Progressing • S = Struggling • N = Not assessed at this time • Behavioral Evaluations • 4 = Demonstrates all of the time • 3 = Demonstrates most of the time • 2 = Demonstrates some of the time • 1 = Rarely demonstrates this behavior

  8. Galileo Activity • Look at the sample report. • Determine the Academic Evaluation for each student based on scores. • Is this a final grade?Can changes be made? • What about classroom assignments?

  10. Portfolio Activity • Evaluate samples of work at each level. • How could these affect a student’s achievement level on report cards?

  11. Create a Plan • Determine which standards you will assess each quarter. • Determine which assessments/activities you will use to assess achievement. • Start collecting artifacts!
