  2. Important Dates • TAKS Retests: 10/21/13 – 10/24/13 • STAAR/EOC Retests: 12/2/13 – 12/6/13 • STAAR English I Exam: 3/31/2013 • STAAR English II Exam: 4/1/2013 • All other STAAR/EOC Exams: 5/5/13 – 5/16/13

Goals for the year • Use writing as a means for communication and discovery • Learn the different modes of writing and accurately use them • Improve writing and EOC scores • Learn to score own writing based on rubrics and STAAR criteria • Discuss, share, and workshop writing with others • Discover more about what makes people the way they are

  4. Grading Policy Writing Lab Endeavors 50% Prewriting, Drafting, Editing, Conferencing, Journaling, Etc. Projects, Quizzes, Tests 25% Completion of Personal Goals and Portfolio 25%

  5. Late Work • Almost all work is completed in class, so there is very little homework! However, every student should be reading at least 30 minutes each day, including weekends. • Students who miss class time can make up work before school, during lunch, or during after school tutorials.
