  1. THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS

  2. December 25th is NOT Jesus’ birthday. • Most scholars agree that He was born in our March or April or possibly in September. • “Christ Mass” which became “Christmas” became an official celebration on Dec. 25th in 435 A.D. • The Roman Catholic Church chose this day to replace the Roman celebration of the SUN GOD. • Celebration of the SUN GOD would now become a celebration of the SON OF GOD.

  3. THE SPIRITOF GIVING

  4. 2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

  5. 2 Corinthians 9:7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 1 Corinthians 16:2 On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.

  6. THE SPIRIT OF RECEIVING

  7. THE SPIRIT OF FORGIVENESS

  8. Matthew 5:23"Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 "leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

  9. Matthew 25:40 … Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'

  10. Matthew 6:14"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 "But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

  11. Luke 17:3 "Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4 "And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, 'I repent,' you shall forgive him." 5 And the apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith."

  12. Hebrews 8:12 "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more."

  13. . “When a man but half forgives his enemy, it like leaving a bag of rusty nails to interpose between them” “ Humanity is never so beautiful as when praying for forgiveness, or forgiving another”.

  14. THE SPIRIT OF KINDNESS

  15. Proverbs 31:26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness.

  16. THE SPIRIT OFHAPPINESS

  17. Proverbs 16:20 He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he.

  18. Hebrews 13:5 … For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." 6 So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"

  19. THE SPIRIT OFLOVE

  20. Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.

  21. 1 Corinthians 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails.

  22. The spirit of Christmas: • Giving • Receiving • Forgiving • Kindness • Happiness • Love • Have it all year!
