MECHANISM OF VENTURI METER
  • The Fluid is accelerated through a converging cone of angle 21o.
  • Pressure are taken at the entrance and the throat.
  • The angle of diverging cone is 5 – 7o to ensure the minimum loss of energy.
  • For continuity of flow V1< V2 but P1> P2.

  • The pressure recovery is much better than for the orifice plate.
  • Suitable for clean, dirty and viscous liquid.
  • Pressure loss is low.
  • Viscosity effect is high.
  • Relative cost is medium.

  • Venturi Injector (Air & water treatment)A venturi can be used to mix a fluid with air. At the end of the system, a mixture of fluid and air will appear.The simplest apparatus, as shown in the diagram, is a tubular setup known as a Venturi tube or simply a venturi.
