  2. Table OF CONTENTS Slide 3-4:The Two Major Organs Slide 5: Working Together Slide 6-7: Two Systems That Connect To The Nervous System Slide 8-9 : diseases that affect the nervous system. Slide 10-11: Neurologist-Neurosurgery Slide 12: why we need a nervous system Slide 13: did u know facts Slide 14: levels of organization Slide 15: website references Slide 16-17: picture references

  3. The two Major Organs The brain is one of the major organs that make up the nervous system. The neurons in the brain record the memory of every event in our lives and control our every movement and thought. The Brain

  4. The two Major Organs The spinal cord sends and receives electrical impulses from the nerves throughout your body. Nerves are made of two different types of nervous tissue; neurons (carry electrical signals) and neuroglia (provide support for the neurons). Spinal Cord

  5. Working Together The spinal cord sends electrical signals and impulses to the brain. The brain then makes sense of these signals or impulses and responds to them. For example, when you see a car that might hit you, you jump out of the way. This happens because of the nervous system. Your eyes see the car, your brain figures out that it might hit you and your brain tells your muscles in you legs to jump out of the way all in a split second

  6. TWO SYTEMS THAT CONNECT TO THE NERVOUS SYTEM The nervous system is connected to the endocrine system. It sends out signals to each gland when its job is needed. For example: the nervous system sends out signals to the endocrine system which triggers them to start producing hormones that will effect all of the other glands in the endocrine system, it regulates the metabolism of our cells and controls body growth. All these glands need each other to maintain that normal balance in the human body.

  7. Nervous system connects to the digestive system When you are eating your nervous system is sending signals to your digestive system, this will trigger the start of the digestive system. For example when digestive system begins the liver will create a chemical compound called bile. The bile will then allow for fat – soluble ( dissolves the fat) compounds to be absorbed in the water-soluble blood circulation threw the intestines. It is passed threw a small intestine from the liver to aid ( acute infectious disease) digestion. Digestive system

  8. Diseases that affect the nervous system There is a stroke called Cerebral Infraction this kind of stroke is where you have damage to a part of the brain because of blockage to the normal blood flow to the brain. There for when a infraction occurs the brain will be unable to function, do to the fact it is not getting normal blood flow.

  9. Diseases that affect the nervous system Degenerative Spine Disease, is the general term that refers to any disease to the spinal column. This can be from aging, wear and tear that happens to the bone, or the soft tissues of the spine. Some of this type is normal because the aging process. People who put more strain on there necks will increase the rate at where the wear and tear occurs.

  10. Neurologist A neurologist is a medical doctor that a neurologist treats disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system. They work out of their offices and in hospitalsbut most of the time they work in hospitals because more people go to the hospitals then there office but some do go to there office..

  11. Neurosurgery Neurosurgery deals with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of disorders that affect the entire nervous system. For example: the spinal column, spinal cord, brain and outer nerves.

  12. Why we need a nervous system The nervous system it is the most important system in the human body. Because All of the organs and muscles inside your body rely upon the nervous system to function.

  13. Did You Know • Did You Know • 1. If you are reading or listening to this presentation you have a Nervous System. • 2. The Nervous System is connected to all of the other 22 organs in your body. • 3. Even animals that don't think have a Nervous System. • 4. Most of the Nervous System’s responses inside of your body are not in your control. • 5. The Nervous System is responsible for the control and function of all other organs.
