  1. Welcome 6th Graders! One-to-One Computing Program 1. Once you have your computer, take a seat and turn your computer on 2. Enter Username and Password as you see on your card 3. Raise your hand if you have issues logging in and someone will come and help you 4. You will turn in your password card at the end of the presentation

  2. Laptop Expectations Your Assigned Laptop is School Property 1. Laptops are fun and great resource tools but remember, you are responsible for your assigned laptop and need to treat it with care. You will have this device the whole time you are in middle school. 2. Place the laptop in a secure location when the device is not being used. Do not let other classmates use your computer. 3. Any damage to the laptop needs to be reported immediately to the school's Tech Office. Do not try to fix the damage yourself. Accidents happen. 4. You will be held financially accountable for the current cost of the laptop/charger/stylus in the case of willful or negligent damage or failure to securely store the laptop/charger resulting in loss or theft.

  3. What is ADP? Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) Insurance 1. You have the option to purchase ADP insurance via the Data Verification Process in PowerSchool Portal. Insurance must be paid at the beginning of the year. 2. Cost - $20/student/year 3. What is covered? Unintentional dropping of device, liquid spills, cracked screens and broken keyboards 4. What is not covered? Vandalism of any kind, loss of computer, loss of charger, loss of stylus 5. You may not take laptop to your own service provider or try and fix it on your own

  4. Laptop Vandalism What constitutes vandalism? 1. Removing manufacturer stickers on the back of the laptop, including asset tags. Do not put stickers/decals on your laptop. 2. Writing/drawing/etching on the laptop or removing keys. 3. Purposely causing any damage to the laptop. **You will be charged for ANY vandalism to your assigned laptop**

  5. Costs for Laptop Components Examples of cost of damage/loss 1. Laptop: You are responsible for your laptop. Do not leave it unattended at school. If you lose your laptop, there is a replacement fee you will need to pay. ($510) 2. Charger: You are responsible for your charger. Do not leave it unattended at school. If you lose your charger, there is a replacement fee you will need to pay. ($36) 3. Stylus: You are responsible for your stylus. Do not leave it unattended at school. If you lose your stylus, there is a replacement fee you will need to pay. ($39) (6th grade laptops)

  6. Acceptable Use of Computer Computer User Agreement 1. You will review and signoff the Computer User Agreement when going through the Data Verification process. Review with your student. 2. The device is to be used for schoolwork only. Utilizing for personal use and/or gaming is a violation of the Computer User Agreement and consequences will be rendered. 3. Circumventing the district network security in any way is a violation of the computer user agreement. Security is in place for your safety and the safety of the district network. 4. Student computers come installed with an 'always on' VPN client which filters from anywhere with internet access. 5. There is no expectation of privacy on a district device. Meant for school use only!

  7. Everyday items Things you should be doing 1. Charge your computer EVERY NIGHT! The battery will last the day when charged fully. 2. Keep your charger at HOME. Do not bring your charger to school. If you forget to bring in your laptop or to charge it overnight, please go to the school's Tech Office for a daily loaner. 3. If you need a daily loaner laptop, pick one up from the Tech Office before first period. You are expected to return the loaner at the end of the day you receive it. 4. If your computer needs to go out for repair, you will be given a loaner to use until it is repaired. 5. Do not share your login information with any other student. This is to keep you safe. If you have any questions regarding your login, please ask your teacher or go to the school's Tech Office. 6. Please go to the school's Tech Office for technical trouble with your laptop/software.
