Vocabulary Words 1-5 Week 1 August 26-30 • Adversary (noun): an opponent or enemy. • Aplomb (noun): self-confidence, especially in a difficult situation; poise; assurance. • Apprehensive (adjective): anxious or fearful; uneasy. • Aptitude (noun): the ability to learn or understand something quickly. • Attentive (adjective): (1)giving attention to something. (2) Paying careful attention to the comfort or concerns of others; considerate.

  2. Vocabulary Words 6-10Week 2 September 2-6 • Accentuate (transitive verb): (1) to give prominence to; emphasize or intensify. (2) to pronounce with a stress or accent. (3) to mark with an accent mark. • Alliteration (noun): the repetition of the same sounds, usually consonants or consonant clusters. • Analogy (noun): (1)similarity in some respects between things that are otherwise unlike.
