  8. Setup 1- PC (Graphic POS) • OLD -The kitchen computer is rolled out to the cafeteria on a cart. USB to Serial adapters and serial to RJ-11 adapters connect the keypads to the PC (Fred keypads) • NEW- The kitchen computer is rolled out to the cafeteria on a cart. USB cable connects the computer to the new keypad (NED)

  11. If you have only one POS … but if you have two POS’s then use the USB to serial adapters

  12. Setup 2 – Wired • Wiring has been run directly from the kitchen office PC to the cafeteria floor jacks. If there are more than 2 POSs in the cafeteria 8 com cards have been installed in the PCs. • Old POS units use RJ-11 cables connected from the PC port on the POS to the floor jack (Straight, Crossed, or Reversed) • Alana POS units use cable with an RJ-45 end connected to the Alana (PC port) and a RJ-11on other end connected to the floor.

  14. Setup 3 – Wired on LAN • Alana POS connects to the Kitchen PC on the network. The kitchen PC and Alana have been configured with static IP address. • Kitchen PC – 10.X.7.100 • Alana -10.X.7.98

  16. Wireless on LAN SETUP • Alana POS connects to the Kitchen PC on the network. The kitchen PC and Alana have been configured with static IP address. • Kitchen PC – 10.X.7.100 • WiFi Wallet – 10.X.7.99, 10.X.7.97, …… • Alana -10.X.7.98, 10.x.7.96, …… • When setting up printers please go in order rather that setting them all over the 10.x.7.x range. Keep 10.x.7.80 – 10.x.7.100 open if possible.

  17. Basic Troubleshooting • Valid IP address? • Is the problem Spyware or Virus related? Do NOT run Spybot on any Nutrition Services PC!!!!!!! • Is the floor jack dirty, corroded or damaged • Are the cables corroded or damaged

  18. MORE TROUBLESHOOTINGA TRIAL AND ERROR CRITERIA • Check cabling, connections and jacks • Restart POS and PC • Bad cables? Change cables, make sure using the same type as you replace • Replace POS • Replace keypad • Windows update, scan for viruses, spyware

  19. Common Problems / Fixes • Fatal Error when opening SCMP- Call PCS Inc (800) 247-3061 Ext. 3 Caused by the PC getting shut off while SCMP is open. Corrupt database. • Wireless PC time out – Cycle the power on the wireless unit. Check to make sure the Wireless access point is on and working. Use a laptop in the area to check wireless signal strength.
