  2. Students will recognize various geological features Mesas Plateaus Mountains Rivers and Streams Oceans Deserts Islands

  3. Student Activities • Describe a variety of geological features • Read topographic maps to identify geological features • Build a model of a geological feature (landform model)

  4. Identify processes that form geological features • Identify effects of erosion • Describe the effects of earthquakes on geological features • Describe the relationship between active volcanoes and related geological features

  5. Final Project • Students will build a model of a geological landform at home • This model can be in the form of a diorama, sculpture, relief map etc. • Students may use clay, papier mache or other materials • Be creative and have fun! • Students will bring their landform models to class to display

  6. Real Life • The earth is in a constant state of change • Geological landforms are affected by erosion, earthquakes, and other forces of nature • It is important to recognize these changes in the earth’s geological features

  7. In Summary • Students will be able to identify various geological landforms • Interpret topographic maps • Identify effects of erosion • Describe the effects of earthquakes and volcanoes on geological features • Build a model of a geological feature (landform model)
