  2. “As for accomplishments, I just did what I had to do as things came along.” Eleanor Roosevelt was born in New York City, on October 11, 1884. Her parents were Elliot Roosevelt, an alcoholic, and Anna Hall, a mother who never had time to spend with her. However 1892 her mother died, and 2 years later her father passed as well. Eleanor and her older brother were sent to live with her grandmother, Mrs. Valentine G. Hall, in Tivoli, NY.She was educated by a privatetutor until the age of 15, where she was sent to Allenswood, a school for girls in England where she met the Head Mistress, Marie Souvestre, who helped her work on her self confidence. At 18 Eleanor Roosevelt returned to New York where she resided with her cousin.

  3. “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.” On March 17, 1905, Eleanor Roosevelt married her fifth cousin, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who was elected to be president . During their marriage they had six wonderful children. During World War 1 when she became First Lady. in the Red Cross and she also volunteered in the Navy Hospital. After her husband got polio she became even more interested in politics, so her husband wouldn’t loose interest in it and also to reach her personal goal. She then participated in League of Women Voters, joined the Women's Trade Union League, and worked for the Women's Division of the New York State Democratic Committee. She then helped to found Val-Kill Industries, a nonprofit furniture factory in Hyde Park, New York, and taught at the Todhunter School, a private girls' school in New York City.

  4. Eleanor Roosevelt a women that should be admired; However died on November 7, 1962, in New York City from disseminated tuberculosis, a plastic anemia and heart failure. She was 78 years old. Eleanor was one of whose women that always worked as hard as she could. She was a women whose opinions had to be heard. Eleanor always helped when she could, and gave money when she could. Eleanor Roosevelt was a women that made sure the right thing was being done, and made sure that she did what she thought was right. Now The Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill, which is a not profitable organization, embraces her voice and does everything that she probably would have done if she alive.
