  3. OC Softball • Next softball open gym date is: • Thursday 2/27 • We will be in the Weight room from 3:15 – 4:15 and the gym from 4:30 – 5:30

  4. Cancer Awareness Week!!! • Wear an accessoryto match the color of the day! (scarf, watch, jewelry, socks) • Thursday- Purple(Pancreatic Cancer) • Friday –Red (Gilda’s Club) • Listen to the announcements for fast facts! • Be sure to wear your colored ribbon! We will pass them out for FREE at lunches on Monday and Tuesday

  5. Prom Club The next prom club meeting will be held immediately after school on Thursday, February 27th in room 211 New members welcome!

  6. Swimming News Good Luck to the OC Swimmer's that are participating in the WPIAL Championships on Thursday and Friday at the University of Pittsburgh. Kristin Beyerl, Cat Christinis, Courtney Coghill, Caroline Evashavik, Natalie Feola, Peyton Kondis, Sarah Mautino, AlexaNamestnik, Melissa Puopolo and Meghan Sismour. Best of Luck to All!! Swim Fast!!

  7. OC QUEENS almost WON OVER WESTERN PA SCHL for the DEAF!The match deadlocked quickly OC 1  WPSD 1 on boards 2 and 3. Then Emily Carney on board 4 took the lead with a classic double rook step check mate in 32 moves.

  8. Chess News! • Next Lauren Tedrick (board 5), rusty after a long layoff, fell exhausted after a 65 move marathon to her opponent With Pieces of Superior Domination.

  9. Kudos to the Queens on their near seesaw victory!OC 2  WPSD 3. Finally, on board 1 Grace Mitro, (not knowing the score was tied),  was playing for the victory.   She defended tenaciously under a strong queen/bishop double diagonal attack on her king.   Only if she could capture his bishop, she had a good chance of winning.

  10. Italy Trip There will be a mandatory meeting for all students enrolled to go on the trip to Italy in June on Friday right after school in room 209. Please see Ms. Hudock with any questions. 

  11. Are you looking for a fun, rewarding, and exhilarating activity? Then rowing sounds like the sport for you! Come hang out with the crew team at the boathouse this Friday. You'll get a full rowing experience and make new friends! For more information, talk to Senior captains Christina Moody and Julianna Fellowes, or anyone on the team. We'll see you on the water! The fun starts at 6pm at the Millvale boathouse.  

  12. Irish Dance Club • Irish dance club old and new members, T-shirt payments are due by Friday February 28th • Pick up a form in the main office and give the money to a representative with 15$ attached. • Also, mandatory meeting on Tuesday March 4th for anyone doing the talent show. You must do the talent show in order to get a T-shirt. There will be cookies!

  13. Attention Junior Class The Junior Class will have a meeting regarding their hallway decorations Friday, February 28th. Anyone who is willing and interesting in helping with the hallway should attend.  The meeting will be immediately after school in Mrs. McKenna’s Room J204

  14. A couple times a week, we are going to play inspirational Christian music in the morning, as a positive way to start your day.  Music lifts the soul to God! 

  15. Step Team Ladies, it's that time of year again! The OC Step team will be performing at Pitt's annual Steel City Step Show! Come support your favorite step team this Saturday, March 1st at 6:00pm at Soldiers and Sailors. Tickets are on sale at Pitt's Student Union right off Forbes Ave. See Mykayla Hawkins for more details.    HYPE

  18. Model UN • The OC Model UN Team needs one more member to go to their competition in New York City, March 4th through.8th. • There is a cost involved. • Email Abby Annear:  acannear@gmail.com as soon as possible.

  19. ATTENTION, CLASS OF 2014! Scholarships to date:  $6, 699,254.00 Class of 2013 Total Scholarships:  $18,752,230.00 Please turn in your scholarship letters to the Guidance Office...can you top the Class of 2013???

  20. Spirit weeks is less than 3 weeks away. Anyone interested in participating in the spirit week talent show and earning their class spirit points, please sign up in guidance. Auditions for all acts will be Today, February 26th in the JOA theatre. See you there!

  21. Diving News Congratulations to Claire Jacobs for placing 14th at the WPIAL Diving Competition on Saturday at North Allegheny. Great Job Claire!

  23. Forensics News Congratulations to Maria Navarro and Anastasia BodeaCrisan who both competed at the PHSSL Forensics Qualifiers over the weekend. Anastasia was named first runner up in the Senate Competition. Maria earned a 1st place in Informative Speaking and will represent Oakland at the State Forensics Tournament.
