  4. Childress Public Library • Located in Childress, Texas • Small staff • No current programs for Children and Adults • Community Interest in Genealogy

Program Goal and Objectives Goal: • Promote a sense of community and connection to the past Objectives: • Present a digital artifact that captures community history • Involve children of all ages in a recreation of the historical film that inspired this program • Provide programs for children and adults that allow them to research their personal genealogy and connect with their family’s history Goal: • To revitalize the presence of the library in the community, and raise awareness of the library’s services and resources, in turn creating life long users and promoters of the library Objectives: • Provide story and craft times for children that foster early reading awareness and a general love of the library • Provide high interest training programs for adults that demonstrate how to effectively and efficiently use the library’s resources

  6. Childress Theater Guild • Working in collaboration with Childress Public High School • An acting workshop will be held followed by various rehearsals • Final product will be edited and produces for the end of summer festival.

  7. Family Tree Teach kids to be "Junior Genealogists" with our guide, in the October 2001 issue of Family Tree Magazine.

  12. Future Endeavors • Evaluations used to help with future summer programs • Further research to learn what other small public libraries do for summer programs and compare our successes/failures and strengths/weaknesses to theirs
