  3. abstract (adjective) Meaning: showing imagined things instead of showing what people or objects actually look like Example: I like realistic art more than abstract art because I can tell what things are supposed to be.

  4. composition (noun) Meaning: something whole formed in a certain way from parts Example: This painting has a balanced composition, since it shows half sky and half ground.

  5. exhibition (noun) Meaning: a public display of works of art or objects of special interest Example: Mr. O’Callaghan’s art class will have an exhibition in the spring. All pieces will be student-created.

  6. portrait (noun) Meaning: a drawing, painting, or photograph of a person Example: The portrait of your sister looks exactly like her.

  7. impact (noun) Meaning: the effect that something has on something else Example: William’s painting had a great effect on me; I will never look at the old oak tree the same way.
