  2. What is ADHD? ADHD, or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects an individual's ability to focus, regulate emotions, and control impulses. It is commonly diagnosed in childhood but can continue into adulthood, influencing various aspects of life, including work, school, and personal relationships. ADHD is often characterized by symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, though these symptoms can vary from person to person. Learn more at Town Psychology’s ADHD Resource.

  3. ADHD symptoms vary, but the most common include: • Inattention: Easily distracted, poor organizational skills, forgetfulness. • Hyperactivity: Restlessness, excessive talking, difficulty staying still. • Impulsivity: Interrupting conversations, rash decision-making, difficulty waiting turns. • These symptoms can create challenges in academic, social, and professional settings, affecting daily life. 4. Children with ADHD often struggle with: • Completing assignments on time, keeping track of schoolwork, or following instructions. • Maintaining focus in classroom settings and staying engaged in tasks. • Managing emotions, especially in group or structured settings. While these challenges can be overwhelming, early intervention through therapy and behavior modification strategies can significantly help. ADHD in Children

Adults may struggle with: • Disorganization in both personal and professional lives. • Difficulty prioritizing tasks, leading to chronic procrastination. • Relationship problems stemming from poor communication or impulsivity. • Issues with maintaining focus, which can affect productivity at work and in personal life.
