  8. Aims

  9. My aims were to search particular web sites which define Non- linear editing such as Avid web site or sites on how stuff works and Wikipedia. • So I could broaden my knowledge. • In doing this I hope to have learnt some history of this editing style. • I have found that Avid was a TV show in the U.S.A of which was broadcast in the UK 1991 • Non- linear editing which is a much faster way of editing using the aid of computers. In doing this, in laymen’s terms, it is easier to move clips of footage around and cut on or edit on the narrative time line. • The limits of this research was not to get in to what the technology was before as this was in depth as of the current non linear style of which we know to date and also the 300 word limit. a

  10. METHODS & SOURCES Was to cross reverence my secondly research Pick out what was relevant to my research Used credited web sites Visited a Avid seminar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avid_Technology http://www.howstuffworks.com/avid-editing-machine.htm https://www.avid.com/US/about-avid/corporate-profile http://www.ccri.edu/comm/courses/Phillips.pdf http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/curiosity/topics/william-warner.htm

  11. Conclusions Results

  12. Avid has path the way for non liner editing systems • Is the industry standard software • Currently have the only online course in the world • Was the 1st company to make a non liner software for the home user • released home versions of their professional line of editors, such as Xpress DV and lower cost professional versions • In March of 1999, • Avid Free DV was available as a free download, providing an introduction to the Media Composer interface, but in a limited version.

  13. Revolutionise the way of editing and made it a much faster way to edit for film makers and television company's , as previously footage was on reels of tape . Avid has been a pioneer in the non-linear editing industry since 1989. computerized editing systems changed the editing profession By 1995 dozens had switched to Avid, and it signalled the beginning of the end of cutting celluloid It is in my opinion that non linear has been made more assessable for non professnal persons to now currently used this method of editing as well as being cost effective as with the amount of suites available to date . The flatbed method or what people may of wish to have called it was a skill within itself but as time has move on with aid of computers a lot of people can now edit at home to certain level based on the self taught method Avid
