  2. What is our purpose? • Learn and understand sustainability and related issues • To see who is interested in debating with the other classes later in the semester

  3. What is sustainability? • “…development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” - Brundtland(1987)

  4. Bottom line (Double bottom line) • Refers to a company's net earnings, net income or earnings per share. Bottom line also refers to any actions that may increase/decrease net earnings or a company's overall profit. 

  5. Triple bottom line • The triple bottom line refers to how a corporation deals with and reports on its impact and behaviour in respect to the planet, people and profit.

  6. Quadruple bottom line • The quadruple bottom line refers to how a business deals with and reports on its impact and behaviour in respect to the planet, people, profit and culture.
