  2. Gal. 6:1-5 “Overtaken in any trespass” (breach of God’s Law) perhaps the sinful “works of the flesh” Gal. 5:19-21 (Matt. 6 : 9-15)

  3. “You who are Spiritual” • When the fleshly evils of Satan have overtaken and lead one onto wrong doing…Those in whom the Spirit rules should restore him. The Spiritual man walks and is led and lives by the direction of the Holy Spirit through the word. (Gal. 5:16,18 & 25) This Spiritual state is reached by diligent study (application of God’s word) and prayer. 2 Peter 3:18 • NOTE: 1 Cor. 2:13-, 3:1-3.

  4. “Restore such a one in the Spirit of gentleness”. To restore is to win him from evil and return him to the proper state of a Faithful Christian. • COMMENT

  5. “Gentleness” (Gal. 5:23) is the humble and unpretentious and gentle Spirit. NOT the haughty, conceited, “I am better than you” Spirit. 2 Timothy 2:24-26.

  6. “Looking to thyself, lest thou also be tempted” we are frequently warned against over confidence 1 Cor. 10:12.

  7. “Bear ye one another’s burdens” “baros” – over loads beyond the normal capacity to carry, due to his weak state. Heb. 12:1-2 • “And so fulfill the Law of Christ” Law of love Matt. 22:39. “Love thy neighbor as thyself” Jas. 2:8-9; Rom. 13:8, Jesus came to bear our burdens, so we must help others, Isa. 53; Matt. 7:12

  8. “For …..if a man thinketh himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself”. Something special through shortsighted self-comparison with those who have fallen. Rom. 15:1-6; 1Cor. 3:5-7; Luke 18:9-11.

  9. “Deceives himself” Christians are to examine (prove) their own work by testing it by God’s word. Nothing is to be taken for granted in the Christian life.

  10. The scriptures provide the standard of conduct in every situation. 2 Cor. 13:5; 1 Cor. 11:28-32. “And then he will have rejoicing in himself alone and not in another”. • Self-examination will lead to a true estimate of oneself not by comparison with the attainments of others, but with the requirements of the Law of Christ, which may result in humiliation and shame that will lead to glory in the mercy, grace and love of God.

  11. “For each one shall bear his own burden. (Load) (“phortion”- personal responsibility). • COMMENT
